Project Abstract
In the modern healthcare ecosystem, efficient data management is critical for delivering high-quality patient care and optimizing administrative workflows. This project details the design and implementation of Healthcare360, a robust, relational Hospital Database Management System (HDMS) engineered to streamline clinical, financial, and operational data. Traditional paper-based or fragmented digital logging methods often suffer from data redundancy, prolonged retrieval times, and heightened risks of human error. To address these inefficiencies, this system utilizes a centralized relational database architecture designed using Entity-Relationship (ER) modeling and normalized to the Third Normal Form (3NF) to guarantee data integrity and eliminate redundancies. The database comprehensively maps and manages core healthcare entities, including patients, medical staff, departments, appointments, medical records, billing invoices, and pharmacy inventory.Key functionalities implemented via structured query language (SQL) include automated appointment scheduling, real-time tracking of room and bed availability, dynamic patient billing generation, and secure electronic health record (EHR) retrieval. Furthermore, the system incorporates Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) to ensure strict adherence to medical data privacy standards, restricting sensitive patient diagnostics to authorized clinical personnel only. Ultimately, Healthcare360 provides a scalable, secure, and highly responsive data infrastructure that reduces administrative overhead, minimizes operational friction, and empowers healthcare providers to make timely, data-driven clinical decisions.
