Project Abstract

Hustle Link: A Web-Based Platform for Connecting Students to Local Gig Opportunities
1. Introduction / Background
In many higher learning institutions, students face financial challenges due to limited access to part-time employment opportunities. While many students possess valuable skills such as graphic design, tutoring, programming, and general labor, there is no centralized system that connects them with individuals or businesses in need of such services. As a result, opportunities are often missed, and students struggle to generate income while studying.
2. Problem Statement
Students often rely on informal networks or social media to find part-time work, which is inefficient, unreliable, and lacks trust. At the same time, small businesses and individuals find it difficult to access affordable and skilled student labor for short-term tasks. This disconnect creates a gap between opportunity and availability.
3. Proposed Solution
This project proposes the development of a web-based platform called Hustle Link, designed to bridge the gap between students and local gig opportunities. The platform will allow students to create profiles showcasing their skills and availability, enable clients to post short-term jobs or gigs, include a matching system to connect students with relevant opportunities, and incorporate a rating and review system to build trust and credibility.
4. Objectives
Main Objective:
To design and develop a web-based system that connects students with part-time job opportunities within their local environment.

Specific Objectives:
- To create a user-friendly interface for both students and clients
- To enable students to showcase their skills and portfolios
- To provide a platform for posting and managing gig opportunities
- To implement a feedback and rating system to ensure trust and accountability
5. Significance of the Study
This project contributes to student empowerment by helping them earn income and gain real-world experience. It supports small businesses with affordable labor, promotes digital innovation, and encourages students to utilize and improve their skills.
6. Methodology
The system will be developed using standard web technologies. The frontend will use HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, while the backend will use PHP. The database will be implemented using MySQL. The development process will follow stages including planning, design, implementation, testing, and deployment.
7. Expected Outcomes
The project will result in a functional web platform connecting students and clients, improved access to income-generating opportunities, a reliable system for sourcing short-term labor, and enhanced digital engagement within the student community.
8. Conclusion
The Hustle Link platform aims to address the gap between student skills and available opportunities by providing a centralized, efficient, and trustworthy system. By leveraging web technologies, the system has the potential to improve student livelihoods while supporting local economic activity.
