Project Abstract

Most small daycare centers have much of an online presence, maybe a Facebook page, maybe just a phone number on a flyer. That makes it harder than it needs to be for parents to find basic things like what age is accepted, what the daily program looks like, who the staff's are and how to actually enroll. This project is a website based that connects parents to the business center called Colleen daycare associates. Anyone who has looked into any daycare for a kid ends up asking the same handful of questions: what age do you take, what are your hours, where are you located, who is watching my child and how do I sign up? If this information isn't easy to find online, parents either give up or end up calling and asking the staff's the same question over and over.
This project will treat that as the real problem to solve,it will give parents the answers they're looking for, quickly on whatever device they're using and gives them a clear next step instead of a dead end. With that in mind the site will be there in built to log out programs, age groups, staff and policies in a way that's easy to skim. Give people a quick overview on the homepage with obvious links to dig deeper. It's a five -page site. Home, about programs, gallery and visit and enroll, all sharing the same nevigation bar. The home page gives a quick introduction and links to everything else, about what covers the centers background and staff bios. Program breaks things down by age group and includes an FAQ section. Gallery is a filterable, clickable photo gallery, contact has hours, location contact details and the enrollment form. One shared stylesheet defines the colors, fonts spacing and a recarring "growth" them,so every page feels part of the same site instead of five separate ones. Under the hood, each page will be built using HTML for content, styled with CSS and JavaScript for interactivity. The interactive pieces include a hamburger menu that opens and closes,a gallery you can filter by category where clicking a photo opens a pop up,FAQ questions that expand when tapped and an enrollment form that checks required fields, shows an inline error if something's missing and counts characters as you type. What comes out of this five page website that actually answers the problem it started with. Parents get programs, staff information, hours and photos in one place and a real way to start enrolling instead of just a phone number to call.
