Project Abstract

This project presents the design and development of a dynamic web-based platform for an artist or entertainment brand, providing a centralized system for publishing and managing music, tour events, videos, gallery content, blog posts, and merchandise. The system is designed to improve digital engagement by providing visitors with access to the artist's creative content while also providing registered users with account and order-management functionality.

The platform incorporates user authentication and profile management, allowing users to register, log in, maintain their profiles, subscribe to newsletters, and view their merchandise orders. The merchandise component enables users to browse available products and place orders, while administrators can monitor orders and update their status throughout the fulfilment process. The system also provides an administrative interface through which authorized administrators can manage users, music releases, tour events, videos, gallery images, blog content, and merchandise inventory. For example, the administrative modules retrieve and manage database records for products, orders, and users, while restricting administrative pages to authorized administrators.
The project is implemented using PHP for server-side processing, with HTML and CSS used for the user interface and JavaScript supporting client-side functionality. Database operations are handled through PHP's PDO interface, allowing the application to store and retrieve information relating to users, content, merchandise, and orders. Prepared statements are used for several database operations, while session-based authentication is used to control access to user and administrative functionality. The overall system therefore combines content management, user interaction, and basic e-commerce functionality within a single web platform.

The project aims to demonstrate how a database-driven web application can provide an integrated digital presence for an artist while reducing the complexity of managing different types of online content and user interactions. By combining public content pages with authenticated user services and an administrative management interface, the system provides a foundation for maintaining an interactive, content-rich, and manageable entertainment website.
